The Smoke Filled Men
The Smoke Filled Men was
originally my own personal recording project in 1994. The musical style
ranged from country to techno to heavy metal to free jazz to grunge --
usually all in the same song. At one point I sent a demo tape to Shimmy
Disc records in NYC; they subsequently contacted me -- not to offer a
lucrative record contract, but to play at a concert series they were
running at the Coney Island Freak Show. So I had to scurry to put a
"band" together to play live. Since I can't remember my own lyrics,
Joshua Roberts was (as usual) the vocalist, and background
singers/dancers were Inez Korff and Debbie Scoblionkov. Click links below to listen.
